Cold is a viral infection that affects the nose and you can catch a cold anytime during the year. Symptoms of cold include sore throat, nasal congestion, cough, catarrh, and aches.

Here are a few tips that will help reduce symptoms and provide relief.

  1. Hygiene: maintaining good hygiene is important to prevent the spread of the infection. Cover your mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and dispose immediately after. Also, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly
  1. Rest: This will not only help relieve some of the pain you are currently experiencing but will also make you feel less miserable and helps your immune system fight off the viral infection more effectively.
  1. Take fluids: Taking plenty of fluids e.g water or juice can help prevent dehydration. Also, Tea with lemon/lime and other hot drink or soup may help ease sore throat and make breathing easier.
  1. Relief Medicine: Over the counter medication such as Sudrex Cough and Cold can help provide swift relief to the pain.

If symptoms get worse or do not improve after 5-10 days or you have problems breathing, it’s advisable to see your doctor.
